Effects of temperature on charge air

During the compression of the charge air the temperature will rise and thus effectively lowers the mass available due to a smaller increase in density. It is therefore necessary to provide cooling for the charge air prior to entry into the cylinder .This has the benefit of reducing the exhaust temperature and same time reducing the thermal load of the cylinders
